Beaches and islands in Lisboa

A beach trip is not a trip with a beach in the middle of it: it is deciding which coast, how much sea you want and how many excursions fit before the trip turns into a brochure. This page holds the destinations where we can build that plan with real data. Lisbon has a slope that changes the plan: the upper neighbourhoods are climbed calmly and the lower ones are walked. The tram, the viewpoints and a table of cod fit into three days without rushing.

Lisbon is climbed: the viewpoints of Graça and of Santa Catarina give the best part of the day, and coming back down at sunset is the plan. Tram 28 is an easy way to see the city without walking so much, and in Alfama and Mouraria you eat well and cheap. In the heat, the plan turns short and indoor. With two nights you see the essentials and with three you add Belém, which is far away and deserves half a day. Fado and cod are the night plan, and the Santa Justa lift gives the best view without queuing. With a car, parking in the centre is the worst idea of the trip.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a beach trip and an island trip?

A beach trip is built around one coast and one town: the same town every day, with the sea on foot. An island trip adds a transfer (ferry or short flight) and a second cluster of activities, so the plan has two areas instead of one.

How many days do I need for it to be worth it?

Under four days the trip fills up with transfers. From five, the plan has a clear shape: two or three days of sea, one outing and a day of rest. With fewer days the chat says so and suggests somewhere closer.
